Our Journey
Our journey began in 2001 when JL, a dedicated musician and guitar enthusiast, started repairing and setting up guitars for his customers in his own humble room in Petaling Jaya. Fondly referred to as the “dumpster room” by his mum, this space became the birthplace of JL’s love for guitars and the foundation for what would later become JL Guitars.
Evolution into Luthier:
From the early days of guitar repairs, JL’s commitment to excellence and his love for the craft led him to delve deeper into the art of guitar making. Over the years, he evolved from a skilled repair technician to a full-fledged luthier, mastering the intricacies of designing and crafting guitars. This transformation marked a significant milestone for JL Guitars, setting the stage for the creation of unique, handcrafted instruments that resonate with musicians worldwide.
Meeting the Gods of Guitars:
Along this remarkable journey, JL had the privilege of crossing paths with some of the most revered names in the guitar world. Building genuine friendships with legendary musicians such as Guthrie Govan, Ron Bumblefoot Thal, Steve Vai, and more, JL Guitars became a hub where creativity and expertise converged. These encounters not only enriched the store’s offerings but also inspired JL to continually push the boundaries of guitar craftsmanship.
